Here's Your Chance to Learn a New Skill and Enrich Your Life

Would you like to pick up a new skill without having to pay for classes or travel to the teaching center?

What if you had your very own knowledgeable and friendly tutor to learn something new and useful?

Hovos has a solution that you'll absolutely love!

Host a volunteer and update your skills in return for accommodation and food. If you're a volunteer, you can share your skills with a host family and cut down significantly on your vacation costs.

Are you looking to learn a new skill or improve on an existing one?

Be a host family for a foreign traveler

Hovos links travelers with hosts in a purpose-bound manner. What do we mean by that?

As a host taking in a foreign traveler - mostly students - you provide accommodation and food free of cost.

In return, the individual you're hosting will help you with a project, in this case, teaching.

Our volunteers are nice, intelligent and driven by wanderlust! They're responsible individuals, knowing fully well that they have to make good on their project in order to enable a comfortable, economical stay in a foreign country.

They're willing to share their skill and time with you - it's an opportunity you won't easily get in your neighborhood or country.

Take a look at our volunteer profiles to see the range of skills at your service!

Not surprisingly, language practice is a common project, which is great if you're keen on becoming multilingual.

Learning a new language has its perks:

  • You gain a better understanding of a different culture
  • It helps you on your own travels to foreign countries. Knowing at least the basics of the local language is recommended for any traveler
  • It can be especially useful if your work involves interacting with non-native speakers
  • Do your parents-in-law, friends or relatives speak a different language? Being more fluent in it will no doubt allow you to understand them better (and figure out what they may be saying about you!)
  • Planning to study abroad? This is an excellent opportunity to lay the foundation for the local language and be well-poised for preparatory language classes once you start university.

Learning a language is just one of the many skills on our skill-board. Some of our volunteers are proficient in computers, and will gladly share their IT skills with you.

Having trouble managing your files and folders, working your way around Skype or troubleshooting internet problems? Learn to control your computer instead of fearing it, with some help from our volunteers.
