Happy New Year to all of you !

January 5, 2018

Hi Followers,

This is for us a good opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year.
May all your wishes come true in good health!

Also in 2018 we will continue to write new blog posts every week - except the first week, nothing really exiting has happened apart from demolishing a wall (Mark) and weeding and weeding and weeding (Ans).

What I can tell you is some of our plans for this year though, or maybe I should call it 'wishes' as we do not have an agenda with hard deadlines fortunately. The wall I have been tearing down is part of the old building where they used to store the coal. I created an entrance near the tower. You can now see straight through to the valley near Inca. The idea was to keep the concrete blocks undamaged as we want to use them for the foundation of a new dry stone wall near the cottage. This succeeded quite well, only a few blocks were broken. I lowered the blocks down to the ground floor level of the building through an old hole using a rope and a tool to lift up blocks of wood - it also worked with these concrete blocks. I could not lower them down directly into the mini dumper because Ans used it this the whole week to put in weeds.

Anyway, our current wishlist for 2018 looks like this:

  • Creating a dry stone wall (in front of the cottage)
  • Another dry stone wall as well, around an olive tree (in front of the cottage)
  • Renovating the ground floor of the cottage with 3 arches of natural stone
  • Adding good soil between the walls and the flower beds and path (in front of the cottage)
  • Smooth-en this land installing in ground sprinkler system (in front of the cottage)
  • Sowing grass seed in order to make a nice lawn (in front of the cottage)
  • Breaking down the inner walls on the first floor of the coal building
  • Extending the arches in the 3 rooms for the remaining 2 meter (coal building)
  • Repairing or complete new construction of one of these arches (don't know yet what is best to do, need expert advice)
  • Removing every second row of vines in the vineyard
  • Attempting to create a new irrigation system as dripping and sprinkling with high sprinklers does not work
  • Weeding, weeding weeding
  • Pruning pruning pruning
  • Grafting of many more olive trees
  • And I am sure I forgot many projects
Again, this is a 'wishlist'.
We will see how things go, normally it takes more time than we think.

All the best from sunny and fresh Mallorca !
Ans, Mark & Borre
