About me

My husband and I are active, retired professionals (Interior architect and engineer) from Melbourne, Australia. We have been travelling to remote places off the beaten track. Our interest in culture and adventure has driven us to find numerous projects on the road.
We passionate about travelling with a purpose to make a meaningful contribution by offering my skills to support disadvantaged communities. We have just finished a National School project in Yangon aimed at alleviating poverty through education.
We plan to travel to Thailand in the first week of March 2017 with a view to find another worthwhile project.

Preferred location

We are currently in Myanmar, Yangon. We have been working on a school project with the volunteer organisation aiming to alleviate poverty through education.
as our project is nearly completed, we are planning to travel to Thailand on 6 march 2017.

Skills

We are both self funded retired professionals from Melbourne, Australia.
We are passionate about travelling around the globe, experiencing different cultures and learning new things.
We have spend a year travelling around Australia, where we had an opportunity to volunteer in Central Australia, Hermannsburg Historic Precinct. We have designed and constructed a 24-site caravan park, worked in Restaurant preparing meals in commercial kitchen and serving the customers. We have also spent 3 weeks in Darwin renovating 2 bedrooms via Helpex organisation , and another 4 weeks in Perth, housesitting and garden maintenance.
After our trip to Europe, we have renovated a 3 bedroom house. This included new kitchen, new bathroom, laying new timber floor and landscaping/garden work.
We are currently in Myanmar (Burma) working on a Master Plan design for a National School in Yangon. The school will provide education and housing for 500 disadvantaged children. We work with an organisation called "Transform the Nations", which aims to alleviate poverty in developing countries through education.
As the project is near completion, we are looking to travel again. Our next destination is Thailand.
We can commit to 1 month as a start, with a possibility of extension.
