About me

I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I lived there for ten years, when I started moving in and out, every six months, to the small city of São Lourenço, south of Minas Gerais state. When I turned 18, I went to live by myself in Recife, capital of Pernambuco state, Northeastern region of Brazil. There, I worked as an english teacher to pay for the course I needed to get into college. In 2012, I went to live in Viçosa, back in Minas Gerais, to study Veterinary. That experience went on for a year, when I changed my major to Social Communication with a focus on Journalism. There, I learned people's skill, confidence, willingness, discipline, and a lot of experience with texts, editing, languages, internationality (I wrote a book about the exchange students in my college), and a sense of worldly compassion. I studied philosophy, sociology, photography, psychology, and experienced many environments. I distributed a student-made monthly printed journal dedicated to the students of low-income of Viçosa. I did that for a year and a half. After that, I dedicated my voice to community radio, so that's another thing I'm very used to.

Preferred location

I just graduated in college, majored in Social Communication Studies with a focus on Journalism. February 15th of 2017 will be my departure date for a two year long of volunteering throughout south america. I'll start by Uruguay, and then follow along to Argentina, Chile, Bolívia, Peru, Equador, Colombia, and finally, Venezuela. But those are the plans I made before going, which may change invariably by the time this trip starts. My budget is a monthly US$300, so I won't be spending much money around. This is essentially money for plane tickets and food, although I'm hoping to get food and housing in exchange for work. I'm also a language teacher, I'm fluent in four languages, and I'm very willing to teach 'em (portuguese, english, french or italian) to hosts. Other than that, I'm hoping to just try and improve the world locally as much as it is in my power.

Skills

I went through college for a major in Communication Studies and Journalism, so I'm very used to people. Throughout college in Federal University of Viçosa, inside the Forest Zone in the southeast Brazilian state Minas Gerais, I wrote a book about exchange students, worked for a radio station, edited and translated texts, and taught french, italian and english, individually and in group, over the course of two years. As the programs in the university were majorly based in rural areas, and by my experience in the country, and could easily do gardening work. Other than that, I live by myself for more than 5 years, so I can basically help around anything in the house or any other thing that's told me to do. I lived for a while in a house with twelve+ dogs, and it was basically and hound. I'm very used to animal pets, urban more than rural, but rural nonetheless. While I was growing up, I had the chance to share my life with both of my great-grandparents, so I'm very used to elderly care. They lived a long life, and had all the help they needed in their last years at home, not in a hospital. The family took care.

Additional info

I am not a smoker, I have a drivers license, I am a vegetarian and I have no allergies.
