About the workproject

We need 4 volunteers

Located in the coffee region of Colombia on a cacao farm. The goal is to create an environment for creative retreats and sustainable living along with an interactive travel blog to share off the beaten path travel tips. I have already built 3 bamboo huts and need help with bamboo construction, planting and growing a food forest, digging, chopping things off with a machete, fundraising, developing the blog

Work to be done

  • gardening
  • construction
  • computer help

Expected workhours

  • 4 hours a day
  • 6 days a week

Work exchange deal

  • shared room

Shared bamboo huts with jungle showers, outdoor kitchen, hammocks, indoor lounge, library, many ebooks and documentaries to share. There is a private hut with queen size bed for couples but you may have to switch rooms if i get a booking as it is my only means of revenue for now

  • self catering

The land is located in the middle of a hill where everything has to be carried down by hand so until the food forest is ready, volunteers need to bring their own food with them when they arrive. If you know how to start a fire then we can cook on the wood fire ring. Please do not bring beans as they take forever to cook, thank you. There is a creek near the kitchen where we can get fresh spring water

  • no money is involved

Qualified local labor cost about $1 per hour. So unlike volunteer positions in other parts of the world where owners will save a lot of money on labor, for me i save maybe $3 a day by hosting volunteers. Therefore volunteers will be asked to compensate for any tools they may damage or bring their own gloves for gardening
