About the workproject

We need 2 volunteers

Hi, I'm Nellie. My family runs a village-like bed and breakfast resort called Kampung Karyawan Malim (KKM) in Gopeng, Perak. This is 20 minutes drive away from Ipoh town and 10 minutes drive away from Gopeng and Kampar towns. The resort's full capacity is 80 paxx with chalet like accommodations, dorms and camping grounds. Normally, we have a small number of guests so we don't employ a lot of workers. We currently only have a handful of steady workers. Hence, we mostly need help with housekeeping and general upkeep which includes gardening and maintenance of the place. There are a lot of outdoor activities like caving and water rafting that could keep the travellers busy when there aren't much guests around. Also, if travellers are in luck, we also host events at the location and you get to take part and immerse yourselves in the events. A yearly event hosted at the location is called the International Festival of Poetry and Arts or Festival Puisi Antzrabangsa dan Lagu Rakyat (PULARA) since 2010 which normally takes place around November and October but preparation works would normally start in July. We can provide accommodation to travellers and there is a kitchen where you could help yourselves with your meals. However, we do provide meals from time to time. This location is set up in a village setting with wooden houses and is surrounded by forests so it would sit well with nature lovers. We don't normally expect a lot of guests hence we need help with general upkeep of the place like housekeeping and gardening. But from time to time, we do have guests hosting marathons, events, summer camps, team buildings or family events on site, hence we'd need some help hosting small events too with event hosting, games, general technical setup etc. Also, this place was built by a famous Malaysian writer called Pak Malim and this place was essentially meant to be a quite getaway or haven for art and poetry enthusiasts. You'd probably end up spending more time exploring the caves, waterfalls, and small towns or writing poetries of your own while you're here. You can look up Kampung Karyawan Malim (KKM) on Google for more information on related pictures and articles. I can be looked up on Linkedin as Nurul Hidayah Mohamed Ghozali if you'd like to know me professionally. On a personal note, I love travelling and meeting new people!

I work and stay with my family in Kuala Lumpur, two hours from Kampung Karyawan Malim resort. The bed and breakfast resort is owned by my father (Pak Malim) and is being operated by a handful of workers who work and stay on site. My sisters and I help out with the resort on weekends when we can but I normally help out with reservations remotely. But my husband and two of my boys personally love our weekend getaways to the resort as we live in the city and this place provides much needed calm with scenic backgrounds. As a family, we love to travel and meet and share with fellow travellers. You can personally email me at nurulhidayah711@gmail.com or you can WhatsApp me at +6012 437 2662
