About the workproject

We need 2 volunteers

This is an English language school for the youth of the Myanmar ethnic minority group known as 'Mon'.

There are about 55 students in the age group 16 to 24. They live separately according to gender in boarding house together with the teachers. The students are divided into three classes.

The objective of the program is:
To empower and motivate young generation to work for their communities and get into leadership position.

We are searching for volunteers who are not only fluent in English language but also have other skills to share with our students to support the students learn as much as possible.

You don't necessarily need to have experience with teaching but it is desirable if you know how to work with groups and have knowledge of the political and social background of the ethnic minorities in Myanmar.

You can bring your personal expertise to teach to the students as we are flexible with the program.

We can provide food and shared basic accommodation (sleeping on the ground with blankets) and we are willing to introduce you to the rich culture and include you into the lifestyle in Myanmar. In exchange, we expect high commitment to support the students in their needs and work well together with the other teachers.

Please send us some information about you and your professional knowledge and skills so that we can see how you can fit into our program.

The duration of stay can vary, starting with a few days to a few weeks. We can't support with visa or travel expenses because of limited resources.

We require 1-3 hours of organizing activities per day and spending time with the students afterwards. There will be free time and opportunities for you to visit places around Mawlamyine.
