Last adventures in Yacutinga

Just yesterday the guides here from the Reserve found a gorgeous Coral Snake. This snake it's quite tiny in fact, it's not wider then your thumb neither longer than your arm but, and there is a very big but: it could kill you within few hours. Four hours after the venom gets in one's body it will paralyse the diafragma which eventually leads to death. Lovely isn't it? It is now safely inside a box so tomorrow, when there's no guests in the Lodge, we'll go out and release it back to nature.

Actually the person who captured the snack into an empty 2l coke bottle was Saul. He is one in a thousand! Just the other day he was telling us how he survived a poisonous snake bite alone in the jungle, or as he managed to get away with live from a furious, enormous storm that was crushing his little boat into pieces while alone in the Iguazú River. Besides all of this, there were times when we were hanging around with him in the jungle, and he would just point out any tree, any tiny little insignificant bush and tell you not only the name but also the potential uses or curiosities about it. He's capable of mimicking birds sounds and tell you the name of the bird just by listening to it - and be mindful that some birds have up to 18 different songs just the specie alone! Saul is one of this people that will stay in our memories forever. He honestly deserves a book written on him and his life.
We've been getting to meet the most wonderful people at this place. We could go quite extense on this diary just by telling you about them!

We are in fact almost finished with this volunteer which is a shame. It's been such a wonderful experience and it feels really great to contribute to a place like this. Literally everyone that belongs to the team are here because they truly care for nature and it's conservation! So we done all we could to produce good photos (over 300!), videos and articles in order to leave the place with a lot of social media content to publish for the next months.
While doing all this work we still had some time to practice loads of yoga and for a wonderful spiritual retreat. This place has been far too good for us!

We're soon heading to one of the most famous South American natural wonders. We'll share with you everything about it just in one week!
Thanks a million for reading!
Love,
Joana and Diogo
