Second and last week at the Ecofarm

One thing we should state beforehand is that we are kind of foodies! "A good fork", as we say on Portugal. But not any type of food - "Our body is our temple", so let's keep it working well so we can have a healthy long life filled with loads of trips and volunteer experiences! That's why we chose to have a consciouss plant based diet, packed with nutrients. For this reason, it's been loads of fun for us to cook and bake only organic food here at the Ecofarm, with the addition of all the microbiotic diet benefits that our host has been teaching us. For example, the other day we baked some vegan orange cake with organic locally grown oranges and a chocolate cake with 100% pure cacao recently brought from Peru, both baked in wood fired hoven, which only increases the delicious flavours in it. We'll be more than happy to share our recepies with you - good food it's such a bless that deserves to be shared!

Chascomús as been gifting us with the most wonderful demonstrations of natural beauty. Staying here means being surprised at any moment either by a rare bird species overflying our heads out of the sudden, or the most splendorous blood moon you can only imagine in your dreams. No picture or video can possibly make justice to this (although we tried hard).
Few nights ago, while we were preparing dinner - some chickpea flour and vegetable savoury pancakes, fully vegan and fully delicious (recipe available, just ask us!) -, we started hearing some heavy thunder somewhere near our location, strong enough that one could feel the reverberation through the body. We went outside (safe and wise thing to do by the way - not!), and from the house's ceiling we had front seats to watch this nature's stunning show. We were crushed by the magnificence and splendour of the powerful lighting, followed by the loud clap of thunder. The lightning was not only of a flashy white, but also green, blue and violet, creating a palette of colours above us that would kind of spread and amplify along the thick layers of clouds. The crash of the thunder was constant and every 2 or 3 seconds a new colour, a new flash, would light up the sky up until where the eye could see.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our diary. We love sharing these words with you out there. We are just about to start a new volunteer, so keep you eyes up for next week's post!

Love,
Joana & Diogo
