About me

I'm 18 years old and from a city with about 150.000 residents. I finished high-school last year, and I am going to the Maritime officers school next year.
I would like to go on a (work) holiday in Norway this summer. I went to Norway twice: once on a student exchange program, and the summer after again with my family. I really enjoyed the beautiful nature and the friendly people in Norway.
This time I will go together with my best friend Olivier. We wil arrive by airplane the day after Olivier turns 18, and leave 2 days before Olivier's family's planned holiday.
INTERESTS:
I enjoy spending time in or near the water; boating, fishing, swimming. I also own 3 small boats. I have refurbished one of the boats, and both of my outboard engines (Yamaha 5pk 1980. and Johnson 25pk 1990) I enjoy working on all sorts of projects with friends. A friend opened a little workshop close to my house, and I try to spend most of my time in there. I really enjoy quality woodworking, but I am not yet (very) experienced with it.
SPORTS:
I am an experienced rower and train at least 5 times a week. Furthermore I competed in 7+ national championships, although i never won anything.
I also enjoy running, and my personal record was 18:23 for a 5km run.
Furthermore I have a cheap road racing bicycle that I use about once a week and take about 30-80 km trips. My longest trip has been 117 km so far.
TRAVEL COMPANION:
I will be travelling with my friend Olivier this summer he is 18 years old and is a student in Electrical Engineering. He is interested and experienced in all kinds of science but mostly the technological side. He is an experienced electrode welder and has worked for a company that designs and decorates interiors by hanging up curtains, laying carpets, etc. Furthermore he is creative, interested in art and is an experienced archer.

Skills

EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS:
I have about two months of experience in retail.
I also have some experience in home remodels, I helped finishing and painting the interior of my mother’s house 6 years ago. I also worked for about a month for a contractor, refurbishing 5 apartment buildings in Amsterdam. I also worked refurbishing a friend’s house, where I mainly painted, hung wallpaper and refurbished the wooden staircase. Recently I refurbished another wooden staircase.
I am working on a project right now where we rebuilt and extend a part of an (1920) stone house.
I also built a jet-engine from a car turbo with 2 friends and Olivier; who is my travel companion.
Furthermore I chopped wood with an ax for a friend who heats his house using wood. I really enjoyed doing that, but I will say that I'm not an expert in it.
I have an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) for inland waters. Which allows me to steer non-commercial boats up to 25 meters long, and commercial boats up to 20 meters long. I don’t have a drivers license yet, but I'm taking lessons right now, and will have one this summer.
Last I would like to say that I'm very motivated to learn all kind off new skills and don't mind to get my hands dirty doing it. Although I might live in the city, I'd like to work, not in a city. A farm, camping or something likewise would be ideal for me.

Additional info

I am not a smoker, I have a drivers license, I am not a vegetarian and I have no allergies.

(we most likely will both have a drivers licence in the summer) I, Hugo have a International certificate for operations for pleasure craft. (for non comercial ships up to 25m, and 20m comersial ships)
