About the workproject

We need 2 volunteers

We have opened our home to renting our bedrooms by the month and occasional AirBNB guests. We hope to open our Vietnamese Cafe soon. We plan to build our 4 bedroom home from monthly rentals to a hostel style as time and money are available. We live in a great neighborhood. To the east is the Bella Vista party zone, a mountain park, zoo and several places of tourist interest. To the west is the Patronato shopping district, ethnic neighborhood restaurants and shops and the famous La Vega vegetable market selling any thing to cook and eat. South is Central old town Santiago with its walking streets and busy Plaza de Armas. We just need some International help around the place.

I am an old traveler who has given up on the US and moved to Chile with my Vietnamese wife of 5 years. We both like international people, so we decided to share our home with travelers to make life more interesting. My wife, Mai, is from Saigon and is not Viet Cong. She will open her "Rico! Saigon Cafe" in the space behind the hostel. We can both hold up our side of any conversation, so join us and enjoy yourself in Santiago.

Work exchange deal

  • shared room

We can offer you a hostel style bunk bed right now with a locking storage space under the bottom bed. Your space will have a reading light above the bed and an electrical outlet in the secure storage space to charge your phone. I am building a locking door into that space now, so you and your volunteer room-mate will be able to secure the room AND have your own private storage spaces under the bottom bed. This will not be a loisy hostel inside, but we are building a nice social space in the front yard. When our Cafe opens soon, visitors can socialize in the Cafe's patio shown in our picture.

  • shared meals

We will feed you a meal of delicious Vietnemese food of our choice every 5 hour shift you help us. You will need to cook your own food in the kitchen at times our Cafe is not open. There will be a bbq grill outside for grilling. We are deveoping a social space in our front yard for eating, drinking and smoking.

  • no money is involved
