We need 4 volunteers
We are a small farm/ranch breeding quarter and paint horses. We also take guests for tours and trail riding in the forest and we work with natural horsemanship and western riding. Our horses are not shod.
We are situated around 15 km south of Falköping in a beautiful area. We have 10 - 15 horses that always live outside, cats and a dog of mixed breed. We also have chickens.
We grow our own vegetables and hay/silage for the horses. It is all organically grown.
What we need help with is the maintenance of the buildings, chopping wood, forestry, garden work, planting, harvesting, painting and mending fences, household work, grooming the horses and riding. We also need to take care of saddles and bridles and clean the stables.
You will learn a lot about western riding and natural horsemanship, ecological farming, permaculture and how to run a farm.
You are also welcome to borrow our bikes if you want to explore the surroundings. If you want to go to Gothenburg one day you are there in one hour by train.
The accommodation is in a guesthouse with access to bathroom and kitchen in the main house. We also have a couple of rooms in the house available.
You are welcome to keep your own household or share the meals and household work with us. Normally we eat together. Both vegetarian food and meet are available.
We are interested in helpers both for longer or shorter periods.
If you want you can even stay in one of our tipis in summer. You need to be healthy, we don´t take people with allergies or diseases.
There is a small village 5 km from us with stores, banks, library, medical center, pizza restaurant and railway station.
To come here from Falköping you drive road 47 towards Trollhättan. After 15 km you will see a sign Floby 6, turn left, pass a church and turn right at the next sign Trävattna, follow the road around 5 km until you see a farm with red houses and a barn, red fences and horses.
We also pick you up at the Floby train station. From Gothenburg there are trains to Floby, takes around one hour. It is good if you have some experience with horses and riding skills but not necessary. What we need help with is the maintenance of the buildings, chopping wood, forestry, garden work, planting, harvesting, painting and mending fences, household work, grooming the horses and riding. We also need to take care of saddles and bridles and clean the stables. Working hours are not regular, we work when it is needed. The average is 5 hours a day. Like if something urgently needs to be done and can't wait, because it is going to rain the next day we work until the job, is done no matter what.
Maybe a fence is broken or hay silage has to be brought in.
We also have a lot of free time together where we go swimming, biking, picking mushrooms or riding or go to a horseshow or some other local event.
I am running a horse farm for 15 years where I am breeding paint and quarter horses. I have experience of horses since my childhood and it has become a lifestyle for me. I have 5 children but they are all grown up. Sometimes I work outside the farm with children that has autism and Asperger but mainly I am dedicated to the work on the horse camp.
