About the workproject

We need 1 volunteer

Learn all about dinghy building and maintenance on a sailing boat in Greece.
No experience needed, just a good pair of willing hands and enthusiasm.

After 2 month of sailing from IJmuiden (The Netherlands), Zephyr arrived in Pylos (Greece) at the end of July 2017.

The happy ship "Zephyr" is staying in Pylos Marina for the coming year and in summer we will explore the Ionian Sea (between east Italy and west Greece).

The skipper is Hans:
I'm a very active, retired Dutchman, and have been working all my life in the IT-industry. Then I changed my life and live and travel now the Mediterranean on the 34ft Colvic Victor “Zephyr”, with changing crew.

My motto is “I never tried before, therefore I can”.
Everything on board will be done by myself and you, except for the things where an expert is better smile

The boat is built in 1978, and is in strong need for a renovation.

I need help to:
- Take part of the ‘furniture’ out and redo insulation and such
- (Re-)Decoration of the cabin
- Electricity wiring
- Repair small polyester spots and some holes
- Build a dinghy and a pair of oars, you can start rowing when ready smile
- Work on both masts
- Redo antifouling
- Check hull valves and tubing
- Service the engine and take the propeller shaft out
- Check all rigging and redo some
- And a few things more smile

I don’t count on finding a skilled millipede among the volunteers.
What I do hope to find is a woman/man that is used to work with tools and want to learn new skills.

If you are interested in joining me in (part of) this project, you are very welcome.
I prefer longer stays, especially if you don’t have too much (or none) expertise and have to learn things.

If you have limited experience, apply anyway. I can teach you most things and you will leave with a lot of practical knowledge and skills.

Color, paint, interior design, decorating, polyester, epoxy, construction, electricity, rigging
