We need 4 volunteers
Hi I'm Lindsey and I'm building free off-grid artist studios in the Mojave desert about 30 mins east of Joshua Tree, CA. The land is 5 acres and just getting set up- there is a cabin I'm finishing and a completed earthbag dome. I need all kinds of help and all skill sets are welcome. Currently I am preparing to build a second dome, organizing a large junk pile, and earthbagging a firepit. Other projects for this year include creating a ferrocement water cistern, water catchment system, and creating a number of earthworks on the property. Volunteers should limit their stay to 1-5 nights and be prepared to work ~2-4 hours a day either in the early morning or evening. I provide some food and plenty of recommendations on cool places to explore.
Accommodations are tent or car camping only. YOU MUST HAVE A CAR- NO EXCEPTIONS. Water must be brought in (fill jugs for free at the nearby Oasis of Mara Visitor Center). There is a dry toilet/outhouse and hand-washing station on site.

In the summer of 2016 I moved to a remote 5 acre plot of desert with a dream of building an earth dome-laden free art haven; a place where I could host a diverse company of artists while expanding my skills in large-format sculpture, earthworks, carpentry, music, permaculture, and junk art. The dream has sprouted. The first dome is complete, a cabin erected, a cozy 1975 Winnebago that opens to a sky of endless stars. Wonder Domes will begin hosting artists this Fall. In the meantime, I live here. I build things, I walk for miles in search of beautiful trash, I carouse with likeminded outcasts, navigate a variety of friendships and love affairs, and regularly confront my own dysfunction.
Small off-grid cabin is under construction but can comfortably sleep 2 people. Space is ideal for hardy campers or those with a "vanlife" setup.
