About the workproject

We need 10 volunteers

OUR PROJECT:
Set atop a ridge in the valley of San Juan de Dios in Costa Rica, Cascada Elysiana (or Elysian Falls) is thrilled to welcome you to our nature park and permaculture gardens, featuring one of Central America's most beautiful waterfalls (over 120 ft. tall!) and numerous other falls, cascades and dipping pools. An Eco-Lodge & Retreat Center we also conduct and host workshops with a focus on personal growth, reflection, wellness and environmentally responsible living. If you're on The Path, you are welcome to come and walk it with us smile

We invite you to come adventure with us. Discover the beauty of this natural environment, investigate the depths of your inner environment, and explore the interconnection between the two.

HELP NEEDED:
We are still very much in the process of developing and building. In addition to help with gardening, cleaning, web, reception and kitchen, we have a particular need for helpers with construction and carpentry experience, especially with small eco and rustic wood, bamboo and stone projects.

***PERSONAL GROWTH & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT***
Living and working closely with a small group of people in an isolated environment can be challenging. Part of your stay at Cascada Elysiana will include some training in how to live harmoniously in community by learning to deal creatively with conflict, to be more aware of your own experience and to share that openly and honestly with others. The process we use is called Radical Honesty. You can learn more about it at www.Honesty-Lab.com

INTERNSHIPS:
We are also offering Kitchen Chef and Assistant Manager internship positions with room and board included. Please visit www.CascadaElysiana.com/work-stay for more info.

LANGUAGE PRACTICE
We seek to foster a multi-lingual, multi-cultural environment. This is a wonderful opportunity (for us all) to practice and learn from each other, notably (but not limited to) English, Spanish and French. Our Organic Master Gardener and builders are all Tico (local) and Spanish-only, and any of the interactions you have with locals in San Juan will be in Spanish and Cascada Elysiana itself is officially bi-lingual.

As language enthusiasts, if you are eager to practice your Spanish, French or English, we encourage that, here.

From 2010 to 2017, Michael lived in Los Angeles in a school bus which he converted to run on WVO (waste vegetable oil) for his touring bands Hell & Lula and Goodnight Goddess.

In 2016, he was certified as a Radical Honesty Trainer by Dr. Brad Blanton and has teamed up with John Rosania of Honesty Lab in LA, coaching and leading workshops designed to help folks get over their troubles and be freer, happier, healthier and more connected by being more honest.

Michael has studied in France and taught in Spain and has a passion for languages as well as psychological health and eco-living. He looks forward to hosting, leading and participating in workshops and retreats at Cascada Elysiana in a multi-lingual setting.
