About the workproject

We need 11 volunteers

Health Relief International (HRI) is a Non – Religious, Non – Political and a Not for Profit, self sustaining establishment of volunteer medics and other health related disciplines
We assist populations affected by conflicts, disasters, public health emergencies, by delivering emergency medical assistance with a special emphasis on vulnerable and at risk populations
Our Programs
HRI’s programs combine both social and economic interventions that contribute to sustainable development that benefits the community as a whole. Special attention is devoted to subjects such as the position of girls and women, children and young people, People with disability, the elderly, People living with HIV/AIDS and human rights.
1. Public Health Crisis Response
With over 4200 volunteers in Kenya and over 12,000 globally, HRI continues to work with governments the community and strategic partners in support hard to reach facilities especially during situations of health crises. We also work hand in hand with local staff and partners in ensuring that normalcy is restored in shortest time possible and preventable loss of lives is minimized. The initial response is accompanied by community health outreaches and medical camps targeting the most vulnerable and hard to reach. Most vulnerable groups include, women, children, People with Disabilities, Minorities and the elderly. A needs assessment is then done to determine gaps and recommendations for long-term and sustainable plans. HRI also offers capacity building, exchange programs and equipment support in order to enhance health delivery and efficiency at facility level
2. Humanitarian Health Response
We respond to disasters and emergencies especially in hard to reach areas with interventions ranging from, medical care, high nutrition supplements, senior citizen care, and psychosocial support.
3. Gender Based Violence/HIV and Girl’s Rights
Sexual gender based violence is on the rise in Kenya! Last year alone (annual report 2017/2018) an overwhelming 3849 survivors of gender based violence were treated and continue to receive psychosocial support by our partner center (GVRC). Roughly, HRI and our partners attend to atleast 10 survivors every day! To break it down further, we are likely to get an emergency call within the next 45 minutes from a distressed survivor or relative who needs emergency medical help! A quick analysis of the trends and data we have in our possession shows that the numbers are likely to soar or even double by mid 2019. HRI with its fleet of 10 ambulances and medical volunteers spread across the hard to reach areas in kenya (Marsabit, Isiolo, Samburu, Turkana and Tana river) in close collaboration with the Nairobi Women’s Hospital (Gender Violence Recovery Center) and the National Gender and Equality Commission continues to give a second rescue , treat and support survivors of Gender based violence to . We also partner with grass root community groups to conduct targeted community awareness and sensitization on GBV issues, child rights, anti Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and child marriage

Am the Country Director of a Charity organization called Health Relief International (HRI) a fully registered Charity under the NGO board in Kenya . Currently working in the poorest parts of the Country , HRI has several programs including, Women empowerment where hundreds of women have been trained and supported to run small businesses. With over 12 years in the humanitarian sector, am passionate about making a lasting change to thousands of poor communities , men and women including children who lack basic opportunities and services that many of us would often take for granted.
I believe we both have an opportunity to make the World a better place. There is no black or white or Yellow or green! We are both humans and therefore we got to support and help our brothers and sisters.
