When you stay and work with us you're not just joining the staff of your average hostel, your becoming a part of our 'community within the community'. Our business is built on the principle that tourism is not a one way experience, it is a powerful tool for multi-disciplinary ecosystem development and social impact. We currently operate a hostel in a favela with the benefit of close proximity to the forest, mountaintop views overlooking the city and urban beaches. The favela is a special and unique place, and in the community is very connected bridging together many communities of artists, musicians, designers, actors, volunteers and travelers. Our hostel was built in close partnership with a local NGO which offers various courses and recreational activities for children and young adults in the community. A significant portion of income earned through guest reservations goes back to the NGO to increase their capacity to positively impact the community through expansion and improvement of their course offerings.
Everything begins with friendship and trust. We live, work and play together and encourage a culture of empathy, collective consciousness and respect. We cherish all of our employees and volunteers and seek to provide opportunities for everyone in our organizations to have quality life experiences, cultural and language learning and personal growth. For those that contribute to our organization at a high level and demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow, opportunities will exist for paid positions or to join the future expansion of our social business. Staff members will also have the opportunity to participate or lead social volunteer projects in the favela and at the NGO.
