About the workproject

We need 4 volunteers

We need any number of volunteers to assist us with stick picking. We are currently clearing eucalyptus plantation with a large excavator and tractors (they do all the heavy work!) - however we need people to pick up the light sticks left once the bigger machines have done their job. It is not difficult work. The air is fresh and the views are spectacular on our farm - it reminds me a little of the Land of Narnia! (if you have read "The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe" by C.S Lewis). Once the sticks have been cleared we will go ahead and plant pasture for our beef cattle. We normally provide a billy tea and picnic lunch by the fires that we light as we gather sticks. It's lovely. The cows often gather around to say hello. We also run a tourism business on our farm - so your accommodation will be nice and comfortable, and food for self-catering for your meals will be provided. Many of our guests visit Mt. William National Park - just minutes from us - which is absolutely teeming with Australian native wildlife. It's a kind of African Safari - Australian style, They walk from the Stumpy's Bay Beaches along to the now famous Bay of Fires, incrementally, enjoying the comfort of our accommodation upon their daily return. Lonely Planet named The Bay of Fires (endless kilometres of giant white sand dunes and sparkling turquoise seas) the "Most Beautiful Destination in the World" back in 2009. If you work with us this is a great opportunity to explore what our unique part of the world has to offer!
