About the workproject

We need 2 volunteers

We own Blackridge Vineyard and Winery ,one of the first vineyards to be established in Central Otago, South Island,
New Zealand and also the most Southerly Vineyard in the World. The vineyard consists of 9Ha of vines grown in small blocks established around towering schist rock outcrops. The setting is dramatic and the views from the property are stunning with up to seven mountain ranges being visible. This is Lord of the Rings country , many of the scenes from the movie having been filmed in the vicinity. We recently took over the vineyard and are redeveloping it and are converting over to more sustainable organic methods. The nature of the vineyard means most of the work has to be done by hand though we do have tractors etc. We need and would welcome help in the conversion and the normal routine work of the vineyard and have farmhouse accomodation available, with TV, wifi and telephone. We have work available throughout the year for 2-3 volunteers. The property is close (10min) to the town of Alexandra which has all facilities available and is an hours drive from the tourist and skifield towns of Queenstown and Wanaka. This area is an adventure and nature lovers paradise. We have two full time employees who you would work with and we would love to meet and have you join our team for a short or longer stay. We are flexible in hour requirements

My wife Belinda Green a cardiologist and myself Joss Purbrick a geologist are in our late fifties to sixties and live in Dunedin, New Zealand about 2.5 hours drive from Blackridge. We have two boys one of 17 at school and one of 20 who is doing teriary studies.
I supervise Blackridge but have a Manager Pam Ross who lives in Alexandra and does the day to day running of the vineyard, and would be the person you would deal with on a day to day basis. I try to get to the vineyard for two or three days a week.
