VII. Waterfalls Rhapsody

November 12, 2018

Iguazú Waterfalls Hello again!
So here we are now at Mendoza, about to complete our 2420 km journey to Santiago de Chile. We left Yacutinga Lodge and Nature Reserve last Tuesday (the 6th of November) and since the 9th we've been traveling towards Santiago. In total: 34 hours inside a bus! We already spent two splendorous luxury nights on a bus (this is sarcasm, btw) and today we decided to stop for a good night sleep at the lovely city of Mendoza. We are very soon arriving our destination and you won't believe where we're heading from there! You'll have to wait for next week's journal to read everything about it, but one thing I can promise you: it will be worth the wait!

Before the 2420 km and 34 hours bus ride

From the 6th to the 9th of November, precisely after we left Yacutinga Lodge and Nature Reserve, we stayed for three nights at Puerto Iguazú, the closest considerable sized town near Yacutinga.
This town is known from being the gateway to one of the most amazing wonders of nature: the magnificent Iguazú Falls! Of course we couldn't miss it so we decided to spend a whole day at Iguazú Nature Reserve in order to visit this wonderful creation of Nature.
Words seem not to be enough to describe how beautiful, enormous and touching this waterfalls are. Even the pictures and videos we made can't possibly make justice to its sublimity. The park itself is very well kept and preserved, being a proof of that the quantity of animal and plant species we managed to see there. The vegetation and metal passageways and bridges through the jungle and over the waters reminded us of the Jurassic Park series of films. There was very little garbage (should be none, but of course the staff from the Reserve can't control our species' dumbness at times) and now and then some kids and adults attempting to relentlessly feed the animals despite resented warnings. It was very crowded overall but that can't spoil one's experience or distract you from what this waterfalls are. It's impossible not to feel overwhelmed next to something that only remind us of Nature's grandeur and splendour. A wonderful experience that we recommend to the entire word!

After this day at the Waterfalls we felt spirituality fulfilled but physically exhausted, for that we took the nest day to rest. There was one effortless activity that we wanted to do so badly ever since the 1st of November: go to the cinema and watch Bohemian Rhapsody! As Freddie Mercury and Queen's fans we couldn't possibly miss this! So off we went to cross the border to Brazil to reach the closest cinema complex. Have you seen it yet? God save the Queen!, absolutely worth it!!

Now, here we are falling in love with gorgeous cosy Mendoza, that couldn't have possibly been a best last town to visit in Argentina.

Don't miss our next week's journal, we can guarantee it will be worth a read! Our next stop is a lifetime dream to us and one of earth's most remote locations.
Thanks for reading!
Lots of love,
Joana and Diogo
