A Cottage outside the city

Regiojet Train and my pack

Off to Prague we went on a Regiojet train, we paid for the upgrade so that we could have a nice seat and eat some food, which was actually pretty cheap to buy.

We also got pretty lucky in Prague since we knew people that lived here we had a free place to stay. Kylee worked with a guy back in Canada that was from Prague originally and his parents still live there. Lucky for us, they actually have a couple garden houses that they move around in and rent out. We asked if we could stay in one of them, and they were more than happy to accommodate us, it was awesome!

We were about a half hour out of the city, but since the metro runs everywhere in and around the main of Prague it worked out perfectly. We stayed in what they called a garden house, because it was in the outskirts of Prague. It was like a cross between a cottage and a shed, but was more than enough for us. It had a hot plate, a toaster oven, running hot water and really good WiFi. The only thing they asked in return was for us to take care of their garden while they were on vacation, so we got to eat peppers, tomatoes, plums, blackberries and apples.

Another reason we were super lucky to have this place, is because Prague in August is quite expensive for accommodation. We stayed there for two and a half weeks catching up on work, gardening and seeing the beautiful city.

We were so impressed with the city, it is amazing at every corner. Even though it suffered some damage near the end of World War 2, most of the beautiful architecture remained in tact.

We ended up having friends come from around Europe to visit as well, which was amazing. We got to meet some bloggers we only talked to on Twitter before, and a friend that we met back when we were backpacking Australia ten years ago. Such a fun couple of weeks we had!

We also got to wake up early to take sunrise photos around Prague, but we had hoped that it would be early enough to not get any other tourists in our photos but it seems like most people have this idea. We also went to one of my new favourite farmers markets, which is every Saturday by the river. There are so many speciality items including breads, pastries, sausages, fruit, jams, pates, pickles, coffee and beer at 9am!

So once again, as seems to be the theme in our travels, we ate a ton of incredible food. I guess being chefs, this makes sense.
